Abstract
In this case study, we analyze data from an innovative nationally-representative survey of respondents in the United States, the Understanding America Study (UAS), to assess current levels of Social Security knowledge and retirement preparedness, to identify gaps and disparities in both, and to understand the associations between them. Opportunities to analyze rich and relatively high-frequency data, such as the UAS, can lead to insights that inform evidence-based policymaking in the case of retirement-related financial behavior and beyond.
