My Household
UAS participants provide key socio-demographic data about themselves and their household when they join the panel, in a survey called "My Household" (MYHH). Participants are required to review MYHH information quarterly to keep it updated. MYHH variables are appended to every UAS survey dataset.
- Variables included in MYHH are listed and described on the Standard Variables page.
- MYHH data files, codebook, and frequency distributions associated with all currently active* members of the panel are available on the My Household survey data page. The codebook and online variable listings are available to the public, while dataset download and frequency distributions are available to registered UAS users, after login.
- There are three versions of My Household: 1) Version 1: April 2014 to January 2015; 2) Version 2: January 2015 to October 2025; 3) Version 3: October 2025 to the present. The data and survey codebook below are for My Household Version 3. My Household Version 1 and 2 are described in the My Household V1 and V2 pdf.
My Household survey data is used in several ways:
- To gain quick insight into the demographics of all current UAS participants, such as panel distribution by gender or income.
- A subset of the acquired data is employed in the UAS's weighting procedures.
- MYHH data (and any other relevant UAS data) may be leveraged for a survey’s custom sample selection, such as targeting those below a certain income threshold, or to filter survey questions, for example to ask retirement-related questions only to those age 50 or older.
Historic MYHH Data: In addition to MYHH's data on currently active panel members, we have also made available for download historic and current MyHH data for all UAS participants, *active and inactive, in two additional data files. My Household over Time and First My Household may be accessed by registered users on the Panel Recruitment and Participation Data page.
*Definition of “active” UAS members: Participants in the UAS are considered active if they have completed a survey within the last year, taking today's date as reference. Participants who do not complete a survey for 3 months are entered into the UAS's "sleeper" retention program. Note: Prior to January 24, 2024, newly recruited UAS members were considered active, and included in the MYHH file, only if they had completed at least one other UAS survey in addition to My Household.
